These charts are from a new ABC News / Ipsos Poll -- done on February 13th and 14th of a national representative probability sample of 547 adults, with a 4.8 point margin of error.
The poll shows that most Americans thought the Senate should have convicted Donald Trump. That was the opinion of about 58% (nearly 6 out of ten people). But the people didn't think the senators made their decision based on the facts, but based on partisan politics.
Only 23% said the decision was based on facts, while 77% said it was based on partisan politics. And similar percentages of Republicans, Independents, and Democrats agreed with that.
