China's Sharing Its Vaccine With World - U.S. Should Also

These charts are from Axios.com. The top chart shows that the United States has purchased about 1.2 billion doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. They have nor all been delivered, but they will be in the next couple of months. That's far more than required to inoculate the U.S. citizens and achieve herd immunity.

It's time to start making plans about sharing vaccines with the rest of the world. Currently, China is producing about 33% of all the COVID-19 vaccines. The U.S. produces about 27%. No other nation is close to those two.

China is already sharing its vaccine with the rest of the world (about 62% of its production is sent to other countries). So far, the United States has shared none -- although President Biden has said about 1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be sent to Canada and Mexico.

China is earning a lot of goodwill by sharing their vaccine. Of course, it's easier for them because they acted efficiently and got control of the pandemic in their country. The United States did not. But as more citizens get vaccinated in the U.S., it will get control soon -- and then it will need to make sure other countries are also able to get the vaccine (even if we need to buy more of the vaccine to share).

The U.S. was viewed as a rogue nation by the world when Trump was in office. He's gone, and we now have a decent president. It's time to show the world we are no longer a rogue nation. helping other nations to get their citizens vaccinated will go a long way toward rehabilitating the image of the United States.
