Two Men On Opposite Ends Of The Political Spectrum

Two men are stealing the spotlight on most media from Donald Trump today.

One is Zohran Mamdani. He is the person most likely to be elected the new mayor of New York City. He is a Democrat and a progressive who shocked the political world by defeating former governor Andrew Cuomo in the city's Democratic primary.

He did it by addressing the real concerns of voters - making life more affordable. While Cuomo stuck to old Democratic policies.

He is an exciting newcomer in Democratic politics, and other Democrats would do well to follow his lead. Voters all over the country are concerned about life becoming unaffordable in the United States.

The other politician in the news is former congressman and vice-president Dick Cheney. Cheney was a right-wing conservative, who believed in Republican trickle-down economics, and the exporting of American-style democracy by military means.

Cheney died at the age of 84. While I often disagreed with the policies that Cheney propounded, I have to admit that he left an indelible mark on American political history.

And he was true to his conservative ideals - opposing Trump's attempt to steal the presidency through an insurrection.

While Mamdani and Cheney were definitely on opposite ends of the political spectrum, they also had some things in common. Both were patriots who loved this country. Both believed in the Constitution, the rule of law, and our political system.

And those attributes make them look like political saints when compared to the liar, conman, and convicted felon currently occupying our White House. Trump has no respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, or our democratic system of government.
