Brits Think Bush More Dangerous Than Kim Jong-il

A new survey has been conducted by major newspapers in four countries generally regarded as strong allies of the United States. The newspapers conducting the survey were Britain's Guardian, Canada's La Presse and Toronto Star, Israel's Haaretz, and Mexico's Reforma. The poll was conducted in late October of this year, and involved 1,010 from Britain, 1,078 people from Israel, 1,007 people from Canada, and 1,010 people from Mexico.

I was not really surprised by the poll results, but many Americans might be. After all, these four countries are our closest friends. But friends or not, many in these countries think Bush poses a danger to world peace.

When asked if they thought U.S. policy had made the world a more dangerous place, 69% of Brits said yes, while 62% of Canadians and 57% of Mexicans agreed. Only 36% of Israelis believed this.

Israel also stood alone in favoring the U.S. invasion of Iraq. About 59% thought the invasion was a good thing. The other three countries strongly disagreed. Around 89% of Mexicans, 73% of Canadians, and 71% of Brits thought the invasion was unjustified.

But perhaps the most startling statistic was when Brits were asked who had made the world a more dangerous place. These are the four most dangerous leaders to world peace according to the Brits:

Ahmadinejad..........62%
