Last summer, Governor Perry appointed Don Willett to the vacant seat on the Texas Supreme Court. Willet is now trying to win that seat on his own. It's not going well.
The Texas Progress Council has filed a complaint with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, accusing Willett of misconduct. The TPC says Willett is falsely claiming on his campaign web site that he has the endorsement of several newspapers. These newspapers are:
Austin American-Statesman
Dallas Morning News
El Paso Times
Houston Chronicle
San Antonio Express News
Victoria Advocate
Midland Reporter-Telegram
Waco Tribune Herald
The only problem with this claim is that it's just not true. Every one of the above-named newspapers has endorsed Willett's Democratic opponent -- Judge Bill Moody. Judge Moody worked hard for those endorsements, and it's disgusting to see the Republican lying about this, especially one like Willett who has no prior judicial experience. Judge Moody has sat on over 400 criminal and civil cases in state district court as the presiding judge.
You may remember that Judge Moody is the candidate who walked across Texas this summer, talking to voters from El Paso to Orange.
