Gingrich Says He's A Candidate For Prez

The Republicans really didn't need another idiot tossing his hat in the crowded ring of possible presidential candidates, but it looks like they have another one anyway. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (pictured) has said he is a "possible" candidate for the position.

On Wednesday, Gingrich told reporters, "I think I'm on a list of seven or eight possible candidates at this stage. We have a lot of people around the country who would like to have somebody who represents a commitment to replace the current failed programs and to develop a set of solutions that are practical and workable."

Of course, Gingrich didn't tell anyone what those "practical and workable" solutions might be. That's because he doesn't have any more of a clue about how to solve America's problems than anyone else in the party of NO. After their abject failure during the Bush administration, they only have one idea left -- oppose anything the Democrats try to do.

Gingrich's communications director, Joe DeSantis, confirmed to reporters that Gingrich is considering running in 2012. Adding to the impression that he will run is the fact that he's created a 527 group and a PAC to raise money. The 527 money could be used to attack Democrats, while the PAC money could be spread around to Republican candidates (thus garnering support for himself among them).

Here are the others that Gingrich considers to be possible candidates:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee
South Dakota Senator John Thune
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal
Texas Gov. Rick Perry

All I can say at this point is that the Republican Party may not have any ideas, but it has no shortage of nuts.
