Another Great One Is Gone

I was saddened to learn of the recent death of a marvelous person and superb singer -- Phoebe Snow. She was only 60 years old. If some of you younger readers haven't heard of this talented lady, I urge you to find one of her albums and give it a listen. She had a great voice and wonderful style. I'm going to miss her.

    I can't believe she was only 60; I'm 61, and I thought she was older than me.

    I think I have the album you've pictured on this post. She was a great one indeed. A true original!

    Thanks, YDG, for reminding us that Phoebe Snow was not only a great musical talent, but a great mother as well.

    For those who aren't familiar with Phoebe's devotion to her daughter Valerie, here's a link to a 2007 interview with Phoebe in which she speaks about Valerie.

    You are both absolutely right. She was every bit as good a mother and human being as she was a talented singer. We could all learn from her loving dedication to her severely disabled child.
