Public Says Recession Still Here & Bush/GOP Are To Blame

It would be nice if we could get the truth out of someone in Washington. But the chance of that happening is about as good as breaking the bank at a Las Vegas casino. Theoretically it's possible, but you wouldn't want to hold your breath until it happens.

Right now both political parties in Washington are trying to get the American people to believe something that is just not true. The Democrats want people to believe the recession is over and jobs are being created again. And the Republicans want us to believe it is President Obama's fault that the economy is still in trouble. Neither one is true.

The recession is not over, regardless of what the economic pundits say (or wish for), and there aren't enough jobs being created to even keep up with the number of new workers trying to enter the workforce. There are nearly 17 million people unemployed, and another 8.7 million that are working part-time because no full-time work is available. And the recession will not be anywhere near over until a significant portion of those people are put back to work. It will probably take years.

But as much as the Republicans would like to blame this terrible economy on President Obama and the Democrats, it just ain't gonna fly. It started during the presidency of George Bush as a result of the failed "trickle-down" policies of the Republican Party. And the obstructionist actions of the current congressional Republicans have kept the president from improving the economy or creating jobs.

Fortunately it looks like the American people are not quite as dumb as the Washington politicians think they are. They know the recession is still raging, and they know it is the fault of George Bush and the Republicans. This is born out by a new CNN/ORC Poll (taken between September 23rd and 25th of 1,010 adults nationwide -- with a margin of error of 3 points). Here are the results of that poll:
