Why Republicans Are So Ill-Informed

Have you wondered why many of your Republican friends and acquaintances are so ill-informed about politics and current events, and why they seem to have bought into the silly idea that what is good for Wall Street and the giant corporations is good for everyone? Well, a new survey by the respected folks at Public Policy Polling may have answered that question for you.

According to their new survey, most Americans trust the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) more than any other media source -- except for Republicans that is. The Republicans don't trust any news source except for Fox News (73% of them trust Fox -- the only media source that gets the trust of a majority of Republicans). Since Fox is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the corporate wing of the Republican Party, it becomes clear why the Republican Party has lost its way. How can anyone be well-informed if they get all their "news" from Fox -- which has demonstrated it has little regard for the truth when it won't fit with their right-wing corporate agenda.

Here are some interesting numbers for both PBS and Fox (see the PPP link above for figures on other news media):

TRUSTED SOURCE

PBS
General public..........52%
Independents..........66%
Democrats..........66%
Republicans..........26%

FOX
General public..........45%
Independents..........36%
Democrats..........25%
Republicans..........73%

How can that 73% of Republicans have any idea what the truth is when they only trust the propagandists at Fox for their information?
