Wisconsin Poised To Toss Walker Out

Wisconsin is holding its presidential primary today, but it has a far more interesting election coming up in early June. That's because the effort to recall Governor Scott Walker (i.e., toss him out of office) has been scheduled for June 5th. And right now it seems that the recall has a very good chance of succeeding.

A new Rasmussen Poll shows that 52% of Wisconsinites would vote to end his tenure as governor if the election was held today, while only 47% would vote to keep him in office. The poll also showed that 53% of the people disapprove of how Walker has performed as governor (and 46% strongly disapproves), and majorities of both men and women would vote to recall him.

One thing that makes me feel a little more confident that he may actually be recalled is the fact that the Rasmussen Poll has a history of slightly favoring Republican candidates. If they are saying Walker is in trouble, then he probably is. History is also against Walker. This is the third time a recall election has been held for a governor in the United States, and the sitting governors were booted out both times in the past.

I'm sure Walker is counting on a well-financed campaign effort to turn things around in the next couple of months, but the right-wing Koch brothers have already pumped millions of dollars into the state trying to save their puppet governor -- and it has not worked so far.
