Obama Would Be Better For Most In U.S.

According to the newest Gallup Poll, taken between September 24th and 27th, the re-election of President Obama would be better for most people in this country. Those responding to the poll said Obama would be better for minorities (67%-25%), low-income people (66%-30%), women (57%-35%), young people (54%-41%), the elderly (53%-42%), the middle class (53%-43%). The candidates tied (47%-47%) on which would be better for small businesses. Willard Mitt Romney was viewed as being better for only three groups -- men (35%-51%), investors (26%-67%), and rich people (20%-75%).

If that's really how the people view the president and Willard (and I believe it is), then Willard is in a lot of trouble. But that is the view of all respondents, and we already know how the Democrats and Republicans view things -- with the Democrats viewing the president as better for everyone, and the Republicans thinking the same about Willard. The important thing, as far as the upcoming election is concerned, is what do the Independents think?

The poll tried to answer that question also. They asked the Independents who would be better for each of those groups. The following numbers represent those who think the president would be better minus those who think Willard would be better. That means a positive number favors the president, and a negative number favors Willard -- and the bigger the positive or negative number is, the more that candidate is favored. Here are the numbers:

minorities...............+46
low-income workers...............+33
women...............+28
young people...............+11
the elderly...............+15
middle class...............+9
small businesses...............-3
men...............-16
investors...............-43
rich...............-52

That's very close to what the general population thinks. It looks like Willard has a lot of work left to be done to change the opinion of Independents.
