I wrote a post recently showing that the number of people that want to see marijuana legalized has been rapidly growing in recent years (mirroring the growth in support for same-sex marriage). That has now been verified by one of the most respected polling organizations in this country -- the Pew Research Center. Their recent survey (conducted March 13th through 17th of a nationwide sample of 1,501 adults -- with a margin of error of 2.9 points) shows that a majority of Americans now support the legalization of marijuana.
It is a slim majority (52% to 45%) barely larger than the margin of error, but it marks the first time any poll has shown a majority nationwide for marijuana legalization. And looking at the trend in recent years, it is easy to believe that majority will grow stronger and larger in coming years. The American people are finally beginning to wake up, and realize they've been hoodwinked (lied to) by the government for many years about marijuana -- a gentle herb that is less dangerous than any legal drug currently on the market.
