Public Opinion Of The Candidates On Foreign Policy

I expect the next election to be determined on domestic economic issues -- as most national elections are. But with the continuing mess in both Iraq/Syria and Afghanistan, there is a possibility that some voters will vote with foreign policy issues in mind. With that in mind, I bring you these charts showing the public's opinion of the candidates on foreign policy.

The charts were made from information in a new YouGov Poll -- done between October 16th and 19th of a random national sample of 1,000 adults, and has a 4.2 point margin of error.

The top chart shows the result when each respondent was asked to choose one candidate that they thought would handle foreign policy the best. Hillary Clinton was chosen by the most people (22%), followed by Donald Trump (13%), Bernie Sanders (6%), Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz (both at 4%). No one else got more than 3%.

They also asked whether each candidate was a "hawk" or a "dove" on foreign policy. It's interesting that all three Democrats had a higher percentage considering them doves over hawks, while all the leading Republicans (with the exception of Rand Paul) had a higher percentage considering them hawks over doves.
