The World Has Lost A Great Warrior For Human Rights
Yesterday, Elie Wiesel died (September 30, 1928 - July 2, 2016). He was one of a kind -- a warrior for human rights and a conscience for the world. A survivor of both Buchenwald and Auschwitz concentration camps, he became a professor, an author, an activist, and a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (1986). The Nobel Committee called him a "messenger to mankind", and that's exactly what he was -- a messenger for peace, human dignity, and equal rights for all.
The picture of Wiesel at left is from a celebration for President Obama's inauguration in 2009. The picture below is from Buchenwald concentration camp. Wiesel is on the second row from the bottom and the seventh person from the left.
