House Dems Have A New Bill To Help - GOP Says No To It

The things listed above are what's in the new bill proposed by Democrats in the House of Representatives. Note that it's geared toward helping people -- not corporations. It looks like the House will vote on the plan on Friday, and it will probably pass. That's good.

What's bad is that the bill is probably dead once it gets to the Senate. The Republican-controlled Senate is corporate-owned. They are not interested in in doing anything to help workers, states, or hurting citizens. What they want to do is stop the unemployment checks and provide immunity for employers who force workers back into dangerous jobs (where they are likely to catch the Coronavirus).

Republicans (like McConnell) have also said there is no hurry to do another stimulus bill. They have already provided corporations with a $500 billion slush fund, and provided billions more for other businesses (much of which was stolen by corporations). That's all they wanted to do. They will now whine that we can't afford to help hurting individuals. For them, deficit spending should go to the rich and corporations -- not to help workers and the poor.

Will the Democrats get most of what they want, and be able to help people survive this recession? I hope so, but the Republicans are going to fight this one.
