DFW Judge Shows Questionable Ethics

Judge Susan Rankin, a Republican running for re-election to the 301st District Court, seems to want to act like the national Republicans. Evidently, she has gotten the idea that she can do whatever she pleases as a judge. D Magazine has uncovered some things that voters should think about before re-electing Judge Rankin:

a) Judge Rankin refused to allow the testimony of a national expert on child abuse, and gave the child to the parent she said had abused her.

b) Judge Rankin helped a friend of hers to hide the friend's children from their father - and, financial paperwork showing the father's seperate property also disappeared around the same time.

c) An inappropriate relationship existed between Judge Rankin's associate judge and opposing counsel, and resulted in a plaintiff losing custody of her child.

d) Judge Rankin has called herself a "psychologist" on various documents, even though she has never been licensed as one.

Judge Rankin does have an opponent in this election - Democrat Lynn Cherry. It sounds like this would be a good time to check out switching your support to Cherry.

I want to thank Txfeminist over at Red State Feminist for the heads up on this story. She has more coverage and all the appropriate links, if you would like to know more. Check it out. It's an excellent blog.
