What a game! I still find it hard to believe the Cowboys actually won that game. They probably didn't deserve it, but a win is a win and I'm sure they'll take it and run.
It was without a doubt the worst game of Romo's career. He turned the ball over 6 times -- 5 interceptions and a fumble. I think he finished the game with a quarterback rating of about 38 -- far below the 115 rating he had until this point. He did pass for 309 yards, but the mistakes kept him from turning that yardage into a bundle of points.
The only good thing you can say about Romo is that even though he was having the worst game of his career, he never gave up. He kept plugging away and finally put the kicker in position to win the game with 2 seconds left on the clock.
But while the offense struggled in this game, the defense certainly didn't. They played a great game. The Bills scored 24 points, but the defense only gave up 3 of those points. The other 21 were given up by the offense and the special teams. It was the defense that kept the Cowboys in the game and gave them the chance to pull out the win in the final 2 seconds.
The other hero of this game was Folk -- the rookie kicker. This kid has nerves of steel when the game is on the line. Who would have thought he could kick a 53-yarder, and then repeat it after it was discovered that the Bills had called for a time out on the first kick -- all with the game on the line. When the season started, there was some doubt about going with the rookie kicker instead of the proven veteran. Obviously, the Cowboys coaches made the right choice.
Thanks to a great defensive effort and a rookie kicker, the Cowboys were able to pull off a 25-24 win and stay undefeated for the season. But next week things get even harder. The undefeated Patriots come to Texas Stadium. If the Cowboys are going to win that one, they're going to have to play their best game. Mistakes against the Patriots will get you beat in a hurry.
Frankly, I don't know if my heart can take another game like the Bills game.
