This is kind of an embarrassing event to many of us here in Amarillo. Just when I get to thinking we may be making some progress, the racists always seem to poke their heads up to remind us that hate is still alive and well in Texas.
The United White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is making its presence felt here in Amarillo. In the predominately white areas of the city, they are leaving a two page flyer on doorsteps. The flyer is an effort to recruit some new members in this Panhandle city.
Of course, they don't have the courage to actually knock on doors or set up a booth somewhere in town. I think they realize that most people don't want to have anything to do with these hate-mongers.
Channel Seven was able to contact a spokesman for the group. He said they had no immediate plans in Amarillo, but hope to hold a private rally some time next year.
