A Shrinking Middle Class Is Unacceptable

The congressional Republicans continue to repeat their mantra of government cuts and tax cuts for the rich. Unfortunately, neither of those addresses one of the most serious problems facing this country -- the shrinking middle class. In fact, both of those GOP policies may actually make things worse for that disappearing middle class. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) is right. We must not accept policies that do not address the problems facing the middle class. Unless we want to devolve into a country of haves and have-nots, we must change our economic policies, and make them fairer for all Americans (and not just the rich). Both our economic well-being and our democracy depend on having a healthy and growing middle class.
