Senate Races Trend Democratic In N. Carolina & Colorado
This Rasmussen Poll was done between September 8th and 10th of 1,000 likely North Carolina voters, and has a margin of error of 4 points.
This Civitas Flash Poll was done on September 9th and 10th of 490 registered voters in North Carolina, and has a margin of error of 4.5 points.
This Denver Post / SurveyUSA Poll was done between September 8th and 10th of 664 likely Colorado voters, and has a 3.9 point margin of error.
Both North Carolina and Colorado have incumbent Democratic senators (Kay Hagan and Mark Udall), but they were still states that the Republicans had hoped to flip in a march toward control of the Senate. And early on, it looked like that might happen. Rasmussen actually had Thom Tillis (the Republican candidate) in the lead in North Carolina the last time they polled, and recent polls had shown the Colorado race was a dead heat.
But things have changed, and right now both of these states are trending toward the Democratic candidates in the senate races. Rasmussen now has Hagan leading Tillis by 6 points, and SurveyUSA has Udall leading Gardner by 4 points. Both of those margins exceed the margin of error (barely). In addition, Civitas has Hagan leading Tillis by 3 points (but that result is within the poll's margin of error).
Those aren't margins that would assure anyone of victory in November, but it has to make Democrats feel a bit better that both races are now trending in the right direction.
