18% Of Voters Say Trump Election Is Not Legitimate

Frankly, these charts shock me. They come from a new Washington Post / ABC News Poll -- done between November 9th and 11th of a random national sample of 865 adults, with a margin of error of 4 points.

It shows that 18% of the public views Trump's election as not legitimate. When you narrow it down to Clinton voters, that figure rises to 33% (including 21% of men, 18% of whites, 42% of women, and 51% of non-whites).

Now, I don't like Donald Trump, and I fervently wish he hadn't been elected. But he received over 270 electoral votes in a fairly-held national election -- and according to our Constitution and election rules, that makes him the legitimate winner.

We can question and criticize Trump's incessant lying, dubious character, scary temperament, crazy policies, and future actions. In fact, we would be derelict in our duty if we didn't do that. But like it or not, his legitimacy cannot be questioned.
