Donald Trump Does NOT Have A Mandate To Do Anything
The chart above is from NBC News. It shows that Donald Trump won the electoral college with at least 290 votes, well above the 270 votes required to win the presidency. He is claiming that he now has a "mandate" to impose his views on this country. That is simply not true.
Hillary Clinton may have lost the electoral college, but she won the popular national vote by over 400,000 more votes than Trump. No incoming president who got less votes than his opponent can claim a mandate to do anything. It is just a fact that more people wanted his opponent than wanted him to be president.
A mandate is established only when a clear and substantial majority of voters support a person. That did not happen in the 2016 election.

A-MEN he doesn't have a mandate!!!
ReplyDeleteBush didn't have a mandate in 2000 either, but you wouldn't have known that to have watched him once he got in the office. tRump and a Republican Congress is a scary notion. They can do a lot of damage in the next two years, but we HAVE to get rid of the Republicans in the House in the 2018 election.
