Killing Continues In Iraq As Iranian Leader Visits

I have to wonder just what alternate universe George Bush and John McCain are living in. Both of them continue to claim that we are now winning the war in Iraq. They must have a very loose definition of "winning".

In the first two months of 2008, 69 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq. In those same two months, 1228 Iraqi soldiers and civilians have been killed. If the violence does not increase (and we have no assurance it won't), then over 400 Americans and 7300 Iraqis will lose their lives there this year.

How can we view these death tolls as "winning the war", especially since so little is being accomplished on the political front in Iraq. On top of not solving any of their political problems, the Iraqi government received a state visit yesterday from Iran"s leader, Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad said the two countries had "agreed to cement their brotherly relations". How's that for a slap in the face to America? While American troops are still dying there, they are busy making nice with Iran -- an American enemy. The picture above is of Iran's Ahmadinejad and Iraq's Talabani celebrating the visit.

It is clear that we are not creating a democracy in Iraq. We are witnessing the creation of an Iranian-style Muslim theocracy. This is what Bush and McCain want to continue sacrificing American troops for. That should be unacceptable to all Americans -- even Republicans.

Neither Bush's pride, Iraqi oil or a Muslim theocracy are worth the death of a single American soldier. We must bring all of our troops home and end this nonsense now.

  1. The Republican party traded 5000 American lives, a million Iraqi lives, 3 trillion dollars and a priceless amount of global respect- to remove Saddam Hussein and prop up Iran in his place.

What a complete and utter waste.

  2. Surprisingly I totally agree with your post up to this part.

We must bring all of our troops home and end this nonsense now.

It's took about 7 years to loose the same number of American troops, as Islam took in one day here on our soil.

We don't need to bring troops home, we need to send many more. And we don't need to build democracies incapable of understanding it. We need to destroy Islam. Unlike all the lives taken by Clinton in Serbia in support of Islam we need to destroy it. Or it will destroy us.

  3. CT-
To say we need to destroy all of Islam because of the Shiite or al-Queda nuts, is like saying we need to destroy all of Christianity because of Fred Phelps or Pat Robertson.
Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Every religion can be used for both good or evil.

  5. From the Qu’ran: - Regarding infidels (unbelievers), they are the Muslim’s "inveterate enemies" (Sura 4:101). Muslims are to "arrest them, besiege them and lie in ambush everywhere" (Sura 9:5) for them. They are to "seize them and put them to death wherever you find them, kill them wherever you find them, seek out the enemies of Islam relentlessly" (Sura 4:90). "Fight them until Islam reigns supreme" (Sura 2:193). "Cut off their heads, and cut off the tips of their fingers" (Sura 8:12).

It's not a few, it's all. And to compare Fred Phelps to Pat Robertson, is like comparing Hitler to a puppy. Get real. Just for your info I would destoy the likes of Phelps also.

Come comment on some of my posts at Ivorydome sometime. I'd like to hear your response. It's amazing how libs defend Islam. Especially when you know how they treat their women.
