I'll give you a hint. It's neither! It' a far more lawless organization than either.
According to snopes.com, this story (or variations thereof), have been out in cyberspace for a decade. Although not verified, the fact that most people (myself included) find it credible says volumes about the public perception of Congress.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the exact numbers, there are an unacceptable number of politicians on both sides of the aisle who consider themselves above the laws they impose upon the rest of us. And as the Tea Party movement and the town hall meetings bear witness, there are more people than ever who are enraged about it.
It remains to be seen whether that rage has reached critical mass; many voters still feel that bringing home the pork to their district covers a multitude of sins. But if I were a congressman facing re-election next year, I'd go out of my way to keep my nose clean and let my constituents know that I'm working for them, not for my own enrichment and power.
