Democrats Hold Oregon House Seat

The Florida primary wasn't the only election that was held in the United States yesterday. The people of Oregon's 1st congressional district were also voting in a special election to fill that House seat. It is the seat that was held by Democrat David Wu, who resigned last August. You may remember Wu as the candidate who sent his staffers a picture of himself in a tiger costume, causing many of them to believe he had mental problems.

The seat was won by Suzanne Bonamici rather easily. She received more than 50% of the vote, and it is expected she will be sworn in in Washington in the next week. Most observers believe she will be running for re-election this November for her first full term.
