The picture above is a shot of my own delegation to the state convention (Senate District 31) as they tried to finish tallying our votes in the race for party chair. On the whole, i was very proud of the performance of these delegates. It is a large district with many counties in it, but the delegates got along well and did their business in a professional manner.
That is not to say we didn't have some disagreements. We did. But everyone got their say, and after the matter was settled we shook hands and remained friends. And that is the way Democrats are supposed to act -- fighting hard for what they believe, and then accepting the result with good grace. (Wasn't it Will Rogers who said, "I don't belong to an organized political party -- I'm a Democrat.").
I want to say thank you to the delegates who thought their party and their state was important enough to become a delegate and then go to the state convention. The party needs and depends on good people like you.
The sad part though is that quite a few people chosen to be delegates did not bother to attend the convention. Unless you had a serious illness, you people should be ashamed of yourselves.
"The sad part though is that quite a few people chosen to be delegates did not bother to attend the convention." OMG, how can that be? If they aren't interested enough to attend the state convention, they have no business going to the national. The one and only acceptable excuse that I can think up is lack of money.
