Election Numbers - It Wasn't That Close

Republican Dick Morris told America yesterday that President Obama had won a "squeaker". I suspect he was just trying to cover for his own embarrassment, since he had confidently predicted Romney would win in a blowout. It doesn't look like a squeaker to me though. It looked to me like the president soundly defeated his Republican rival. In fact, the electoral college vote could be called a blowout for Obama. He got 303 votes to Romney's 206, and once Florida is made official, the president's total will rise to 332.

And the popular vote wasn't all that close either. The president beat Romney by about 3 million votes. Here are the popular vote numbers for Obama, Romney, and some others:

Barack Obama (Democrat)...............60,652,149

Willard Mitt Romney (Republican)...............57,810,390

Gary Johnson (Libertarian)...............1,165,649

Dr. Jill Stein (Green)...............408,350

Virgil Goode (Constitution)...............115,244

Roseanne Barr (Peace and Freedom)...............49,507

Rocky Anderson (Justice and Peace)...............36,394

Tom Hoefling (American Independent)...............28,656

Randall Terry (Independent)...............12,984
