The right wing has made the term "redistribution of wealth" a dirty word in this country. They have convinced people that it is code for SOCIALISM! That is ridiculous nonsense. Wealth is always being redistributed in every kind of economic system, including our free enterprise system. That's what economic systems do -- redistribute wealth. Some do it more fairly than others, but all of them do it.
The problem in the United States is not that wealth is being redistributed, but that the rich have (with the help of lobbyists and the Republican Party) gamed the system so all the wealth flows to them, and very little finds its way to the country's other citizens -- creating a country of "haves" and "have-nots", with a disappearing middle class.
