U.S. Has Always Been A Secular Nation

Those fundamentalists who claim the United States was founded to be a christian nation are denying history. The Treaty of Tripoli, ratified by the Senate in 1797 (just 10 years after the Constitution was written), clearly shows the intention of the Founding Fathers was to create a secular nation -- and that's exactly what they did. That's also why they included religious freedom in the Bill of Rights -- because they wanted a secular nation that would treat all religions fairly, and with no government favoritism of any religion. Those are the facts.
