This is the kind of nonsense you get with today's corporate-owned media. Real news (news that affects citizens in their everyday lives) gets ignored, while "fluff pieces" are endlessly reported. The sequestration cuts will affect most Americans in a negative way, but do the media report on stories like that? No, they endlessly repeat ridiculous stories like the curtailing of White House tours.
Don't get me wrong. I believe the American people should have access to their White House. But is that really as important a story as the cuts in food stamps, housing assistance, and Head Start (not to mention the cuts in myriad other areas)? Of course not! Why then is that story endlessly reported while the much more serious cuts are virtually ignored?
Could it be because that's the story the corporations want you to see? They don't want you to see how much the cuts affect hurting Americans, because then you might demand those corporations pay their fair share of taxes -- and you might oppose further cuts (as proposed in the mean-spirited Republican budget plan).
