The right-wing, especially the fundamentalists, like to say that liberals hate god and are trying to persecute christians. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Liberals believe each and every American should make their own mind up about religion, and no religion should be forced on any person through the government or laws. That's because liberals believe in the Constitution, all of it, including the amendments (which guarantee everyone freedom of religion, including the right to be free from religion). If you choose to be a christian (or a follower of any other religion), that is fine because the Constitution guarantees you the right to make that choice. Just respect the choices of others, and don't force your religion (or your religious prayers and rites) on them without their consent.
