Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) lays it on the line, just like always. The Republicans are still trying to convince Americans that our poor economy is President Obama's fault. That's not just untrue -- it is an outrageous lie.
Bill Clinton left office with a budget surplus. It took George Bush very little time to destroy that surplus and turn it in to a huge deficit -- by starting two unnecessary wars without paying for them, and then giving massive tax cuts to the rich (and corporations). And then for good measure, his failed policies produced the biggest recession since 1929 and cost this country millions of jobs.
While Bush had inherited a healthy economy with a budget surplus, he left President Obama with a huge mess. And then his congressional Republican compatriots took up where he left off, by blocking all of President Obama's efforts to get the economy back on track and put Americans back to work. Their actions have proven that they don't give a damn how bad things are for 99% of Americans. They only care about the 1% (and how many dollars they can put in their pockets.
I would say they should be ashamed of themselves, but I no longer believe Republicans are even capable of feeling shame.
