The rich do not ask to be **given** more money, only to keep more of what they have **earned**. Socialists, of course, **give** money to the 'poor' which is why a great many of them do not bother to work - and quite right, too, they may be poor but they're not daft!
The original is from, I believe, John Kenneth Galbraith, who said in response to the fiscal policies of the Reagan administration, "Their argument is that the rich don't work because they have too little and the poor don't work because they have too much."
