Prayer Was Never Banned In Schools

I'm tired of right-wing fundamentalists spreading this lie. Prayer was never banned in schools -- not in any state or community in this nation. All the Supreme Court said was that government (and public schools are a branch of government) could not favor any religion over any other religion, and could not force students to participate in any religious activity (like prayer). And the Supreme Court didn't invent that. It's part of the First Amendment to the Constitution. But any student (or teacher or school employee) can pray to their hearts content, whether in school or not. That's just the way that religious freedom works.

  1. Just another rightwing exaggeration of the truth to inflame their base.
