Bernie is right. We must stop this insane talk of cutting Social Security benefits. Those benefits go to workers who have paid into the Social Security Trust Fund all of their working lives through the payroll tax. They earned those benefits. But the Republicans want to cut those benefits so those who pay very little in taxes can pay even less -- and so they don't have to pay back the money they borrowed from the Social Security Trust Fund to pay for their stupid wars and tax cuts for the rich. They must be stopped, because it's wrong to take from those who have paid to reward those who don't want to pay.
Also, cutting benefits will not reduce the debt. Two things will reduce the debt, cuts in spending and/or more income from taxes.
ReplyDeleteSocial Security is starting to really get messed up, I agree cutting these benefits would do nothing but harm the economy, I read an article at http://blog.mutualfundstore.com/retirement/experts-take-on-social-security-questions/ and it sounds really good.
