Public Dislike Of Teabaggers Is Growing

This chart was made from Gallup Polls taken since March of 2010. The latest Gallup Poll was done between December 5th and 8th of 1,031 nationwide adults (with a margin of error of 4 points). Note that in 2010 the difference between the favorable and unfavorable rating for the teabagger movement was only about 3 points -- and that continued for the rest of that year, with a 3 point margin still in effect in January of 2011.

But then things started to go downhill for the teabaggers. By April of 2011, the unfavorable view had climbed while the favorable view had dropped -- and the margin between the two was now 13 points. That trend has continued, and the unfavorable view now has a 21 point margin over the favorable view. The unfavorable opinion is higher than it has ever been, while the favorable view is lower than ever.  It looks like the public is growing tired of the ridiculous teabagger shenanigans.

The chart below, from the same poll, shows where the teabaggers are losing support. It's no surprise that Republicans and conservatives tend to like the teabaggers, while Democrats and liberals detest them. But the teabaggers are now very unpopular with the Independents and moderates. That should worry them, because it is the Independents and moderates that usually swing elections one way or the other -- and right now, they don't want to vote for teabagger politicians.
