Human Rights
Americans love to talk about human rights and we condemn those in other nations for denying those rights. But do we really have any room to brag. We pat ourselves on the back for trying to insure that Americans have the right to vote, to be free, and to receive equal treatment under the law -- and all of those are important. But are they the only important rights? What about more basic rights, like the right to food and water, to clothing and shelter, and to decent health care? What good are the other rights when a person doesn't even have these basic rights? And why are there so many in our country who cannot see these as basic human rights?
