The Errant Bible

  1. though i agree with the premise of the poster, that first part about the shortest book being by paul is wrong. the shortest was by john and had nothing to do with slavery. in a much longer book by paul, slavery is addressed. it does say that slaves who recognize and follow christ should obey their masters and serve them as they would serve christ. in that era, that was probably the best advice in how to act christian and also stay alive. the real problem rest in the fact that slavery is never condemned in the bible as being wrong and immoral. dan savage should have done his homework before making his statement. when one begins his statement with something that is not true, the rest of it becomes suspect. like i said, i agree with the purpose of his statement but people who don't want to hear the truth will claim that he doesn't know what he is talking about because of the first part of it.

    1. I agree with you Brian. What book is he even talking about. Let's start there.

    2. that would be ephesians jeff. what he says about about getting that moral issue, the one about slavery, wrong though, savage is correct. although during that time slavery was the norm, it was still morally wrong to treat another human being as less than a man or woman and yet the issue was never addressed and condemned. if that mistake could be brought forth, what else has been being taught wrong?
