Voters Are Still Very Angry With Congress

The first chart above was made from information contained in the newest Gallup Poll -- taken between March 6th and 9th of a nationwide sample of 1,048 adults (with a margin of error of 4 points). The second chart is made from similar Gallup Polls taken in January of each of the last 15 years (and will have a similar margin of error).

You may have noted that the newest March poll shows a 2 point increase in approval. That is probably just an illusion, since it is well within the margin of error and the disapproval climbed by a point also. What these charts show for certain is that the public is still very angry with Congress -- more angry than they have been in well over 15 years.

The pundits are still telling us that, in spite of these terrible numbers, the Republicans will retain their majority in the House. I'm not so sure. I think it will be determined by whether the voters go to the polls in large numbers determined to kick out the incumbent rascals, or whether they are so disgusted they will just stay home on election day. Either of those things could easily happen.

But if I was a Republican, I'd be very worried -- since most polls show they are the ones the public blames most for this terrible Congress.
