Presidential Preferences In Oregon
As Public Policy Polling goes from state to state, testing the current state preferences for president, I have been bringing you those surveys. The latest is from Oregon. As you can see from the chart above, Oregon Republicans pretty much mirror the preferences in many other states -- with religious extremist Mike Huckabee and political extremist Ted Cruz the leading choices, followed by Rand Paul and Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie rounding out the top choices. All this really means is that, like in other states, the Oregon Republicans don't have a real favorite.
But that does not mean that Oregonians in general don't have a clear favorite for president in 2016. They do, and that favorite is Hillary Clinton. Note in the chart below that Clinton has a doubly-digit lead over all five of the leading Republicans. It's still extremely early, but it looks like the GOP has a lot of work to do if they want to carry Oregon in 2016.
The survey was done between May 22nd and 27th of 956 registered Oregon voters, and has a margin of error of 3.2 points. The margin of error for Republicans alone is 5.1 points.
