Police Continue To Arrest Journalists In Ferguson

You have probably seen the above photo, which shows the Ferguson police pointing their military-style weapons at an unarmed civilian -- something our soldiers are not allowed to do even in a war zone (like Afghanistan or Iraq). This photo was taken by Scott Olson (of Getty Images), and has been published by both the mainstream media and on many social media websites.

Mr Olson has now been arrested by the police in Ferguson. He joins a growing list of journalists that have been arrested while trying to cover the continuing tragedy in that Missouri town. And the police there say they won't stop the arresting of journalists "for their own safety". This is outrageous, and it leads me to wonder what the police are trying to hide. If they are doing nothing wrong, wouldn't the photos and stories of the journalists reveal that? Is this just payback for those journalists exposing the police overreaction to demonstrations, or are they planning further misdeeds they wish to hide from the public at large?

Here is a list of journalists arrested so far.

Ryan Devereaux (The Intercept)
Frank Hermann (Die Welt)
Ansgar Draw (Die Welt)
Lukas Hermsmeier (Die Welt)
Scott Olson (Getty Images)
Robert Klemko (Sports Illustrated)
Rob Crilly (The Telegraph)
Neil Munshi (Financial Times)
Ryan J. Reilly (The Huffington Post)
Wesley Lowery (The Washington Post)

The arrest of those foreign reporters looks especially bad for this country.
