inaccurate twaddle! Jesus never put forward the notion that governments should take your money and give it away on what it, the government, thinks is a 'good cause'. Just the opposite, Jesus preached that each individual person should make their own individual decisions bearing in mind the plight of the sick and the poor. Enabling governments to do that simply relieves the individual of individual responsibility. Do get a grip, Ted!
I have a grip. But you need to stop letting your right-wing political ideology color your religious beliefs. Jesus didn't say that giving must be done "individually" -- he just said to give. He never came out in opposition of government or giving through government.
actually david he did exactly that. (sorry ted bu i feel the need to drop this little piece of the "WORD" on your site.) it comes from the book of matthew chapter 21;15 Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. 16 They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax[a] to Caesar or not?”18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19 Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, 20 and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”21 “Caesar’s,” they replied. Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”22 When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.the pharises didn't care too much for the fact that jesus believed that the tax should be paid and he never said a word about questioning what it was to be used for. and as to giving, he said to give to all who have need. ALL being any and everyone, not only those who might look, act, think or believe as you. this is one of the biggest failures of christianity as they have learned to ignore what jesus the christ said and follow the church. the church wants people to remain ignorant so that they hold power over the people. it was a quick return to the days of the pharises for the christians.
Seen this comment before and it is so true. Its amazing to me that the xtians throw the buyBull into everyone's face and say how can you be against our faith when you have not studied it thoroughly? When they have have NO CLUE as to what jesus was about, or that he was a jew talking to jews.
I don't think Jesus ever meant to start a new religion. He wanted to make Jews better Jews. The new religion was Paul's idea (who never actually met Jesus).
