Generally, big business wouldn't exist if it weren't for all that the government gives them. It's interesting to watch the local bookstore become a thing of the past. But would that have happened if Amazon had not been given two decades during which the government gave it a roughly 10% advantage over other bookstores that had to charge sales tax? That one has really begun to bother me, because I don't think that Amazon would have been profitable without that bit of government welfare.
