One of the last questions asked of the Democratic candidates in their debate was who they considered an enemy. Hillary Clinton half-jokingly said "Republicans". Since then, she has received criticism for that remark. The Republicans have been acting like innocent victims, and the media is loving what they consider to be a gaffe.
Well, the Republicans are not innocent victims, and the remark was not a gaffe. It was just a statement that recognized the reality of the political situation. No family has been attacked and vilified by the Republicans more than the Obama family, but that is closely followed by the Clinton family (Bill, Hillary, and even Chelsea). It started soon after Bill was elected, and they have been accused of everything from fraud to murder. The attacks have been uncalled for and very vicious.
Considering the vicious nature of the GOP attacks, I don't know how anyone could consider them anything but enemies. They have gone far beyond just disagreeing about policies. They have made their hatred personal. And since she announced her candidacy, it has just gotten worse (with some already calling for her impeachment if elected). The Republicans have not acted like political opponents. They have acted like enemies.
Those who are criticizing Hillary for labeling the Republicans as enemies should stop that. If they had been treated with the virulent hatred that Clinton has received for many years, they would certainly consider those delivering the vicious acts to be enemies. I know I would.
The Republicans ARE Hillary's enemy -- not because she wants them to be, but because they have earned that designation by their words and actions.
well no shit.
