Public Still Angry With Congress (Especially GOP Members)
These charts were made from the latest YouGov Poll -- done between October 8th and 12th of a random national sample of 1,000 adults (with a margin of error of about 4 points).
Anger over the inability of Congress to get anything done to cure this country's economic ills (or much of anything else) has been extremely low for quite a while now -- and it is still low. Only about 9% of the public approves of the job Congress is doing, while 59% disapprove (and the rest are either unsure or don't much care).
But this survey goes on to break down exactly who the public is unhappy with (the congressional Republicans, the congressional Democrats, or President Obama). It turns out that while most are unhappy with government in general right now, they are not equally unhappy with everyone in government.
President Obama still has the highest job approval ratings, as he has for many months now. And the congressional Republicans have the lowest job approval ratings, as they have had for a long time also. The congressional Democrats have an approval rating between that of the president and congressional Republicans.
Note in the chart below that this is true of both sexes, all races, and all age groups. It makes me wonder why the congressional Republicans are still toying with the idea of causing a default by refusing to raise the debt limit early next month, or shutting down the government in early December. Are they trying to make their already dismal ratings even lower?
