Why Clinton Leads The Democratic Race For Delegates


I am getting a bit tired of those Bernie Sanders supporters who claim the delegate process in the Democratic Party is unfair. They are referring to the "super delegates", but the fact is that even without "super delegates" being considered, Sanders still trails Clinton by over 200 delegates. Why is that?

The chart above tells the story. Clinton has more delegates because she has won more votes. In all the Democratic primaries/caucuses done through March 8th (covering 21 states), Hillary Clinton has received the votes of 5,047,564 Democrats, while Bernie Sanders has received 3,411,242 votes. That's a difference of 1,636,322 votes. That means that Clinton has received 59.7% of the Democratic vote, while Sanders has received 40.3% of the vote.

The process is not unfair. Democrats, at least so far, simply prefer Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders.
