The Public's View On Important Democratic Issues

These are the results of a recent YouGov Poll -- done between May 6th and 9th of a random national sample of voters, with about a 4 point margin of error. They show the public's view on three issues important to Democrats this year -- raising taxes on the rich, raising the minimum wage, and free college tuition.

The most popular of the three by far is the proposal to raise taxes on those families making over $250,000 a year. That's supported by 65% of the public and opposed by only 19%. The other two are not as popular, but still get a plurality of support from the public. About 49% support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour (and even more would support raising it to $10 or $12 an hour), while 36% oppose raising it to $15. The idea of free college tuition is even closer (42% to 39%).

The poll also asked if people would support a government-run, single-payer health care system. That also received plurality support (40% to 33%).
