The chart was made from information in a new NBC News Poll -- done between August 1st and 7th of a random national sample of 11,480 registered voters, with a margin of error of 1.2 points.
It shows that in the last couple of weeks, Hillary Clinton has turned what was a tie into a solid 6 point lead -- or more accurately, Donald Trump has blown a tie with his reckless behavior.
The percentage of the vote going to the two biggest third parties is interesting. In the 2012 election neither the Libertarian Party nor the Green Party could muster 1% of the national vote. The Libertarians finished with 0.99% and the Greens got 0.36%. Currently the Libertarians are getting 10% and the Greens are getting 4%.
While both are doing better this year, it looks like the Libertarians are hurting the Republicans worse than the Greens are hurting the Democrats. I doubt that either will finish that high on election day though.
Trump should reach out to Johnson, offer him something. If Trump could get Johnson's support, get many of his votes, like Clinton got Sanders', he could take the lead.
ReplyDeleteI know many of Johnson's votes are actually just votes against Trump, but Trump needs any vote he can get.
And fortunately Trump is too egotistical and too politically ignorant to even consider such a move.
