Net Positive Ratings Of U.S. Business / Industry


The Gallup Poll has done its annual survey on the public's attitudes toward American business sectors. The chart above shows the net positive ratings of each business sector (with the net positive being the positive ratings minus the negative rating). The survey was done between August 3rd and 7th of a random national sample of 1,032 adults, with a margin of error of 6 points.

I was a little surprised to see the healthcare industry rated so low (-20) -- lower than the oil & gas industry, banking, and advertising/public relations. Only the pharmaceutical industry and the federal government were rated lower.

  1. I think the healthcare industry (pretty good) is being conflated with the healthcare insurance industry (sucks big time)...
