The Republicans elected to Congress like to think that the United States is a conservative country -- and that they are just doing what the people want done with their extreme agenda. They are wrong. America is a moderate country, and they think the congressional Republicans are too far to the right.
Majority of Americans (51%) think the Republicans in Congress are more conservative (extreme) than they are (and another 6% aren't sure). Only 43% say they are as conservative (or more conservative) than the congressional Republicans. And this is from a poll that is normally very kind to Republicans.
The chart above was made from information in a new Rasmussen Poll -- done on May 1st and 2nd of a random national sample of 1,000 likely voters, with a 3 point margin of error.
